Stop Work Action

Dear Families,

As you may already know, Tasmanian Unions, including the Australian Education Union (AEU) and other school-based unions, have directed members to participate in stop work action next week.

For the Southern region, the stop work action is planned for Thursday, 30 October 2025.

As a result, it has been determined that our school will be temporarily closed for educational instruction until after 11:00 am on this day. With a number of staff participating in the stop work action, our school will be unable to provide adequate duty of care for students and therefore we ask that students arrive after 11:00am for a 11:30am start. Please be assured that normal school arrangements will resume as the school reopens.

Please also note that bus operators will not be adjusting their timetables in response to the later school starting time.

We recognise these closures due to industrial action will impact families; it is regrettable that school closure action is necessary, however, we must be able to ensure adequate safety and supervision of students.  If you are concerned you will be unable to make alternative arrangements for your child, please contact our office as soon as possible.

Tempory Closure

Subject: Temporary School Closure Due to Stop Work Action

Dear Parents/Carers

Education Facility Attendants (EFAs) play an important role in maintaining a safe and healthy environment in our school.

As part of ongoing industrial negotiations, the United Workers Union has called a Stop Work Action meeting for tomorrow – Wednesday, 17 September 2025 for EFAs. As a result, a number of staff will be absent from the workplace. Due to this, I am unable to ensure that we can meet our duty of care to students and staff.

To ensure we meet obligations under the Education Act 2016, a decision has been made to temporarily close the school for the school day – Wednesday, 17 September.

Our School will reopen as normal on Thursday, 18 September.

I sincerely regret the inconvenience this may cause and the disruption to students’ learning. However, the health and safety of everyone in our school community remains my highest priority.

Thank you for your understanding.

Yours sincerely
